HorrorScope is not about documenting, it’s about solving. It’s not what or who people have been expecting.

Welcome to The Quester Files. It is the website of Gian J. Quasar. It is not a blog. It is one of the last personal websites remaining on the web. He first went online in 1999, sharing 9 years of investigation into the Bermuda Triangle, a subject that had lain dormant for 25 years. With an impressive bibliography, he was soon published by none other than education leading publisher McGraw-Hill. The subject of the Bermuda Triangle was reborn. But it was not as a paranormal subject. It was as the last true world mystery remaining. The author’s approach was to tackle the subject as a thriller of missing ships and planes, and its investigation as a great adventure of the sea. His name, no matter how it is mispronounced, became synonymous with the topic, and he is regarded as the successor to Dr. J. Manson Valentine as the world’s leading authority on the subject.

Quasar’s unusual name and his obsession to find every scrap of documentation has earned him some amusing compliments. “We wondered about the author’s name, Quasar, which in normal parlance means any of a class of celestial objects that resemble stars but whose large redshift and apparent brightness imply extreme distance and huge energy output, and if it might relate to the book and we weren’t disappointed.” New Yachting Magazine

But the Triangle was not the only topic Quasar investigated. With equal zeal he has pursued many world mysteries, from some that are considered fringe to the brutal reality of cold case. He became a very popularized part of the investigation into the identity of the EAR/ONS, and any investigative information he uncovered was triaged by 2 jurisdictions (Orange County and Sacramento).

Quasar’s approach is not that of some eager believer nor some humbug debunker. Gen X grew up with a multitude of phenomena broadcast at them— from UFOs to Bigfoot— but none were ever solved. Documentary after documentary, book after book, merely added more stories and yet proved nothing. Quasar’s approach is basically summed up in his own synopsis at More About The Quester.

The results of some of his investigations are contained here on Quester Files. The results of some are published in books, such as the following:

Although not always popular with the devotees of various topics, Quasar has received mainstream praise for both the contents of Quester Files and for his books. One example is from Matt Jolley, a recipient of the Edward R. Murrow Award for Journalism. “Gian has a real talent for finding the facts in our folklore. If you’re interested in the truth, his books are a must read.”

Therefore welcome to the Quester Files. You can follow the author’s continuing investigations here or consult his books.
