Two Year Crisis

Missing Aircraft Index

Excellent weather conditions prevailed for a Piper Aztec on December 21, 1979. British subject Paul Defferary took 3 American friends, Darryl Shanberg, Jerry Malloy, and James Brown, on holiday to South Caicos Island. At 6:30 a.m. they left Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. The Flight Plan called for a 2 hour and 30 minute flight time. It also indicated more than enough fuel
was aboard: some 5 and a half hours worth.

Typical scenario followed: they never arrived and no trace was found.

A 9 page transcription of his phone conversation with San Juan
International Flight Service Station reveals he carried life
                   jackets on board, an orange
life raft, his radio worked well,
and he had a direction finding radio.

An investigation merely left unanswered questions.
